--------------------------------------------------------------------- MVS/QuickRef Problem Correction Page 1 of 1 --------------------------------------------------------------------- FIX Number................. QP0812A FIX Date................... December 4, 2008 Applicable Level(s)........ MVS/QuickRef Release 6.9 Problem Description........ On z/OS V1R10 systems, MVS/QuickRef's Automatic Operating System Level Selection feature does not function correctly when an MVS/QuickRef R6.9 data base is in use. Some of the control information within the R6.9 data base is improperly defined, preventing proper detection of the z/OS release level in use when MVS/QuickRef is invoked on a z/OS V1R10 system. Users Affected............. All customers with a R6.9 data base in use on z/OS V1R10 systems. Customers who downloaded and merged in the z/OS V1R10 update data base prior to 4 December 2008 are also affected. Symptoms of this problem include failure to fetch a z/OS V1R10 item when an item name that does not end in an asterisk (i.e., a non-generic item name) item name request is passed to MVS/QuickRef. Example: QW S0C4 would not fetch the z/OS V1R10 'S0C4' item, but would instead fetch the next lower z/OS release level of the 'S0C4' item found in the R6.9 data base in use. Problem Correction......... Two options are available for correcting this problem; choose one of them below: Option 1) - Set the OSLSLO=HIGH option in the MVS/QuickRef options table. This setting will force MVS/QuickRef to display the highest release level available within the data base, which will result in the display of z/OS V1R10 items on a z/OS V1R10 system. This option can only be used if the QWIKOPTS table with OSLSLO=HIGH is NOT used on any other system (i.e., is not shared with another z/OS system). You must also remember to set the OSLSLO= option back to OSLSLO=Y when you install the next release (e.g., R7.0) of MVS/QuickRef. Option 2) - Download and merge in the update data base that has been created to correct the inaccurate control information found in the R6.9 data base. The update data base and instructions on how to merge it with your production data base can be downloaded from the web page at this URL: http://www.mvsquickref.com/downloads/dbupdt.html Use a userid of 'infomati' and a password of '2.Lc4G', in the exact case shown, when you download the above mentioned update data base.
